In 2021, almost 1.5 thousand new residents declared their place of residence in Vilnius district - about 10 thousand in a decade

The new year began happily as Vilnius district continues to grow. In the year 2021, 1,491 new residents chose Vilnius district as their home. According to the information provided by the State Enterprise Centre of Registers by the time of January 1st of the year 2022, the number of residents that chose to declare their place of residence in Vilnius district reaches 108,828 residents (including the number of inhabitants included in the account of residents without the place of residence).

We are pleased that the population of Vilnius district municipality is increasing every year.  Over the last decade (2011-2021) Vilnius district grew population wise by almost 10 thousand.  If in 2011 this figure reached 99,070 inhabitants – in the year 2021 this figure grew by as much as by 9,758 more.

One of the largest elderships remains Avižieniai, which counts 13,845 inhabitants (888 more than in the year 2020). Compared to the year 2020 – this year significantly less people declared their place of residence in the eldership of Nemėžis (2020: +260, 2021: +10), although this place has once again secured second place in the ranking. Zujūnai (located close to the capital) became the third largest eldership in terms of population which according to statistics is home to 8,498 inhabitants (419 more inhabitants than in the year 2020).

Eldership of Pagiriai, located in 4th place, count 7,604 inhabitants, eldership of Riešė has 7,393 inhabitants (+225 inhabitants), eldership of Rudamina – 6,291, and Mickūnai, where 215 new settlers have settled – 6,171.
